A Smiths Falls area man is facing charges after a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle about 8 p.m. Sunday night.
Forty-year-old Thomas Irvine was hit by a van while walking along County Road 29 near the Golf Club Road in Rideau Lakes Township.
Douglas Saunders, 51, was arrested a short time later after police say he fled the scene on foot.
Saunders has been charged with impaired driving causing death and failure to remain at the scene.
