Ottawa police are investigating after a young woman said she was sexually assaulted at a hockey party hosted by members of a local Junior A hockey team.

There are reports the party was held on November 19th at a house in Stittsville by players with the Gloucester Rangers.

An event page posted on Facebook confirms a party was held that day. Twelve players from the team are listed as "attending" on the site and 76 women were invited.

Police say they have several people to interview and that the investigation could take weeks.

It is not clear if the alleged incident was connected to a hazing ritual.

The general manager of the Gloucester Rangers, Paul Jennings, says it was not a team sanctioned party.

On Facebook, the party was advertised as having "free booze for ladies and free entertainment in the form of rookie humiliation."

Jennings told CTV Ottawa it was a house party and not something he or other officials can control.

The investigation is ongoing.
