Hundreds of protesters made a brief appearance in the Byward Market Sunday as Occupy Ottawa took to the streets and marched through the city's downtown core.

The group remained peaceful as they weaved their way through city streets.

They were escorted by police and captured the attention of many as they chanted and cheered.

"We still have people coming in late showing their support late into the evening," said protestor Shane Davis-Young. "Despite cold weather, spirits were high."

The movement is aimed at the widening gap between rich and the poor.

Protestors are camping out in Confederation Park and say they plan to be there indefinitely.
