The Calgary Stampede is right up there with some of the world's steamiest and most scandalous party spots, according to a new ranking from CNN.

The travel article listed the top 15 international "hedonistic hot spots" where visitors can leave "conventions (and often your clothes) at the door."

The list was topped with some obvious choices. The anything-goes full moon beach parties at Kho Pha Ngan, Thailand top the list, followed by the Marquee club in Las Vegas, the Baronneti night club in Rio de Janeiro, and the Paradise Club in Mykonos, Greece.

And then there's the Calgary Stampede in fifth spot, outshining world famous hot spots and events such as the Burning Man festival in Nevada and New Orleans' Mardi Gras, which comes in at 10th spot.

While it may appear at first glance that one of these is not like the other, the writer of the article argues that the annual rodeo attracts 250,000 wannabe cowgirls and cowboys "looking to drink beer, yell yee-haw and soak up the Wild West lifestyle."

That formula adds up to one rockin' party for grown ups.

"Next year's event marks the Stampede's 100th anniversary so giddyap!" states the article, which refers to the event as "beer, brawl and brawn."

Jennifer Booth, a spokesperson for the Stampede, told CTV Calgary she couldn't be happier with the coverage.

"We try to put on the greatest outdoor show on Earth every year and it's really great that they've recognized us and they've really put us on the map with a huge, huge audience," she said.
