American officials are considering installing security fences along Canadian-U.S. borders considered trouble spots.
It's an idea often heard during an American election campaign, but usually it refers to Mexico not Canada.
Residents living in the border-city of Cornwall say it's not a fix for security.
"It won't help anything," says Theresa Fodey. "If anything it's just going to make them go further down river and cause more problems."
The border crossing between Cornwall and Massena, New York is complicated. The Mohawk community of Akwesasne is caught in the middle, already bound to answer to both border crossings in their everyday lives.
Cornwall residents say governments should be helping to bring these different communities together, not dividing them with a fence.
