Ottawa police issued a Canada-wide warrant for Liban Sheikhadem Wednesday morning.
Sheikhadem, 26, is wanted for one count of second degree murder in connection to the death of Henry Belmore on July 31, 2011.
Police say Belmore became Ottawa's sixth homicide of the year after he was found dead on Rideau Street.
It is believed he picked a fight with two other men on the sidewalk near Nelson the night he was stabbed.
Investigators believe Sheikhadem is responsible and has fled the country.
He is described as black with dark hair, about 6 feet tall and 150 lbs.
