The Ottawa Senators launched their 20th anniversary season Thursday at Scotiabank Place, solidifying the hockey club's place in the community.

"It certainly has exceeded all expectations as a community asset, economic development," said Sens' president, Cyril Leeder. "But more than that from a hockey fans perspective… something to cheer for."

The season was launched amid much fanfare. Sens' social media is already ablaze with activity.

"I think people are looking at this year as a rebuilding year," said hockey blogger Peter Raaymakers. "And the excitement that comes with the opportunity to see some of the future stars of the Ottawa Senators really step up."

As part of the 20th anniversary season, the Sens' will unveil a new jersey which will feature the team's original "O" logo and barber pole motif.
