Forty-five OC Transpo buses have been pulled off the road because of broken air conditioners.

The city has since replaced those buses with other fleets to avoid service disruptions.

"We've identified problems with two separate issues on our articulated bus fleet. There are approximately 45 buses that do not have functioning air conditioning," OC Transpo General Manager Alain Mercier said on Wednesday.

A few weeks ago, some bus riders were faced with sweaty commutes because some buses were still on the road without air conditioning.

"You see how I'm dressed, this is what I need to wear when I go to work if it's not air conditioned. It's very uncomfortable," said transit user Robert Doyle.

"It gets stuffy on the bus, so it's good to have some circulation of air," added bus rider Joseane Tavares-Cote.

Now, more than 300 articulated buses need to be inspected for air conditioning problems. OC Transpo says the repairs are covered by the manufacturer's warranty.
