City officials have blocked access to global positioning system data for OC Transpo buses shortly after an Algonquin College student developed a mobile application that used the data to provide real-time updates for people waiting for the bus.

Without the information, the application, formerly available at whereismybus.ca, can't operate.

Its developer, Jonathan Rudenberg, a first year television broadcasting student at Algonquin College, is disappointed with the decision.

His site chalked up over 2,500 hits before the data was pulled.

Rudenberg said he hopes OC Transpo will make the data available again soon.
