The Leading Note Foundation believes all children should know the joy of making beautiful music together. The Foundation provides free instruments and free individual and group lessons to students in underserved communities. The children are also given the opportunity to perform in an OrKidstra and/or a KidSingers Choir. The Foundation and some of its students will also be featured in a one-hour television documentary called "Teaching the Life of Music", a film by Toronto-based, Film Blanc. The documentary celebrates the work of Maestro Antonio Abreu, the founder of the El Sistema music program for impoverished children living in Venezuela. It explores how his passionate approach has transformed poverty and violence into healthy living. It reveals how his gift of music is impacting children in developed countries such as Canada, the United States, and Scotland. Abreu's philosophy is simple: Teach children the beauty of music and music will teach them the beauty of life. To donate, volunteer, or find out more about the Foundation, call (613) 897-3210.
