The lawyer of an Ottawa professor accused of killing four people in a 1980 Paris bombing says the documents have been manipulated.

Donald Bayne, counsel for Hassan Diab, has filed an abuse-of-process application in the extradition case.

Diab made headlines two years ago after French authorities accused the Lebanese-born Canadian of being involved in the bombing outside of a Synagogue in Paris 30 years ago.

Four people were killed and 40 others injured.

Bayne says documents have been doctored to falsely implicate Diab while others have been concealed.

The synagogue bombing was one of the worst anti-Jewish acts of violence on French soil since the Second World War. It was followed by a series of violent anti-Semitic acts across Europe in the years to follow.

The attack has been blamed on a group called the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine.

French authorities say Diab was one of five men responsible.

Diab taught at Carleton University and the University of Ottawa, but has not been in a classroom since the arrest.

The outcome of the extradition case will determine whether or not Diab will be sent to France to stand trial.
