A judge exonerated an Ottawa high school teacher of sexual assault charges Wednesday, saying he's not convinced the allegations ever happened.

Jennifer Lynne McCalla, 34, was charged in early 2009 after a 17-year-old male student claimed she touched him inappropriately.

After a two-day trial, the judge ruled it was not reasonable to believe a sexual assault ever occurred.

Ontario Superior Court Justice Paul Lalonde told the court he's convinced of McCalla's innocence and he hopes she can put her teaching career back on track.

McCalla, a teacher at Brookfield High School, was removed from the classroom when the accusations arose. She has been working on home-assignment ever since.
