Ontario's Ministry of Labour has halted all work at a farm southeast of Ottawa after a worker died in a corn silo mishap earlier this week.

The owner of Brugine Farms, near Chesterville, discovered the 51-year-old worker unconscious in a silo at the farm on Nation Valley Road on Monday afternoon.

Police say Ralph O'Neil, of North Dundas, later died in hospital.

The Ministry of Labour issued a stop-work order after investigating the incident.

The order will remain until the company has proper procedures in place for workers who need to enter silos. It must also ensure appropriate safety signs are displayed where needed.
