A clash in Kanata between pavement and a forest is now headed for the courtroom. Supporters of the South March Highlands say if the extension of Terry Fox Drive continues, it will be the largest ecological disaster to ever hit the city.

Precious areas like Kanata's Beaver Pond could disappear. The threat has caused a citizen group to resort to legal action.

The Coalition to Protect South March Highlands is taking the City of Ottawa to court, claiming an outdated environmental assessment was used to approve construction of a new roadway.

Coalition member Paul Renaud says "we believe, rather than paving this area, we should celebrate it."

A judge will hear from the City and the Coalition in the second week of July.
