Technology is creating a lot of new businesses models. Ottawa business executive Rob Woodbridge has come up with a web-based business discussing how to make money in a wireless/mobile world.

Woodbridge says the mobile industry "is where the Internet was 12 years ago: This is pretty neat but what really works? What does not?" In an effort to help people understand the possibilities he started untether.tv. On the site he posts interviews with some of the most creative people in the mobile business that are creating businesses around their ideas.

He offers some free content and other material will cost you. He says the reaction has been "unbelievable, clearly people want information and to learn from the mistakes and successes being made." He adds, "Stop thinking complicated thoughts and you can succeed, extend your business into the mobile space." Applications are programs to help you use your mobile phone. Woodbridge says you can go from idea to revenue in 90 days thanks to the Apple and Blackberry apps stores. The apps can be games, how to use your phone for fitness training or how to deliver coupons to your phone based on stores that are near your location.

"There are incredible entrepreneurs, in many cases they are software developers and not business people," Woodbridge says. "They have great ideas; they need help to get to market." His first start up was in 1993. He sold it and joined GetHow in 2000 but the tech crash put an end to that firm. Then it was on to Systemscope, then working in Ottawa helping bring investment cash together with new companies.

After that he was at Magmic Games, and finally to Rove which offers a very sophisticated app.

All that taught Woodbridge that "99% of production development is building awareness and marketing".

He is advising several local firms and says Ottawa has all the elements to be a leader in this field. Woodbridge plans a public session in Ottawa for this June.  He wants "AppPreneurs" to show off their ideas. Details still to be confirmed. Those interested can contact him via untether.tv.
