Ottawa police are investigating two drug store robberies in the city's west end.

The first robbery targeted a pharmacy in the 1300 block of Carling Avenue at about 9 p.m. Tuesday.

Police say a male suspect entered the store and demanded oxycotin. Although he claimed to have a gun, witnesses did not see a weapon.

Police say the man got away with a quantity of the drugs and fled on foot.

He is described as an English-speaking black male between 20 and 25 years old. He is about five feet eight inches tall. He's skinny, clean shaven and has short black hair.

Police say he was wearing a plaid hooded sweater, jeans and work boots at the time of the robbery.

Two hours later, two masked men robbed a drug store in the 1100 block of Klondike Road.

Police say the suspects entered the store at about 11:15 p.m. The suspects dumped a large quantity of narcotics into a plastic bag and then fled on foot.

One of the men had his hand in his pocket. Police say he may have been holding a weapon. No one was injured in the robbery.

Both men were wearing dark ski masks. One man is described as about six feet tall, with a medium build. He was wearing a white Nike hoodie, a white ball cap and jeans.

The other suspect is described as about five feet 10 inches tall, with a medium build and short hair. He was wearing a red and black hoodie and a grey toque at the time of the robbery.
