Country star Carrie Underwood and fiancé Mike Fisher of the Ottawa Senators made their first official public appearance at the annual Sens’ Soiree fundraiser at the Hilton Lac Leamy in Gatineau Monday night.

Underwood smiled and laughed with her finace by her side, her hair pulled back in an elegant ponytail.

People Magazine is reportedly paying $50,000 for the first photo of the superstar couple. US Magazine also has a photographer on hand.

Fisher told CTV Ottawa the couple is happy to be at the fundraiser together. They will not give any other interviews.

The couple got engaged when the NHL forward popped the question days before Christmas.

The couple reportedly met after Underwood performed at a concert in Ottawa in March 2008.

Underwood, who grew up in Oklahoma, is the winner of four Grammy Awards. She has sold more than 10 million albums and is the first country artist to achieve 10 No. 1 singles from her first two albums.

Underwood was quickly lifted to stardom after winning the fourth season of "American Idol."

The annual Sens Soiree is the top fundraiser for the Sens Foundation in Ottawa, raising thousands of dollars for local charities.

Money raised from this year’s event will help the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario, CSSS de Gatineau Foundation, Royal Ottawa Hospital Foundation, Queensway Carleton Hospital, Roger’s House and Rotary Home.
