Kingston police are on the hunt for a male suspect wanted in connection with the sexual assault of an 11-year-old child who was allegedly attacked while walking near a downtown park Monday afternoon.

Police say the child was walking on York Street near McBurney Park between 3:30 and 4:15 p.m. when a man allegedly confronted the child, and proceeded to sexually assault the young victim.

Police are not offering any other details about the assault. However, investigators believe there may be witnesses that could help in the investigation.

The suspect is described as a chubby white man with an olive complexion, who had a 'dirty' physical appearance. The man is likely between 45 and 50 years old, and between five feet four and five feet six inches tall.

He was wearing a black coat, dark blue jeans and a black and white bandana that covered his face.
