The union representing tens of thousands of public sector employees in Canada says it is ready to convince others of the work they do and the value it represents.

With pensions and other benefits eroding, the Professional Institute of the Public Service -- which represents 50,000 scientists and professionals in federal and provincial/territorial governments -- will begin a branding campaign demonstrating what they do.

Canadians will see an ad campaign called "For the Public Good".

The measures were announced at the union's annual general meeting in Ottawa.
