A historic high school in Ottawa's east end and two elementary schools in the west end are on the chopping block.

The Ottawa-Carleton Public School Board is considering closing Rideau High School, McGregor Easson elementary school and Parkwood Hills elementary school next September.

The recommendations are part of a school board study to deal with declining enrollment. The possible closures will be considered at a board meeting on Thursday.

Rideau High School, which has a history in Ottawa dating back to 1958, is located on St. Laurent Boulevard. Both elementary schools are in the Merivale-area.
