Starting Monday, Jan. 5, the city will introduce a number of measures designed to combat gridlock during the OC Transpo strike:

Extended On-Street Parking Restrictions

No stopping / Tow-away zones at the following locations have been extended to 7-10 a.m. and 3-7 p.m. on weekdays to improve traffic flow. Parked cars will be towed to ensure the lanes are free:

  • Bank Street, east side (7-10 a.m.) between Billings Bridge and Gladstone
  • Bank Street, west side (3-7 p.m.) between Billings Bridge and Gladstone
  • Kent Street, east side between Catherine and Wellington
  • Metcalfe Street, east side, between Catherine and Wellington
  • Queen Street, both sides, between Bronson and Elgin
  • Laurier Avenue, both sides, between Bronson and Elgin
  • Mackenzie Avenue, both sides between Murray and Rideau
  • O'Connor Street, both sides (3-7 p.m.) between Wellington and Catherine

No stopping restrictions will also be implemented between 7 to 10 a.m., Monday to Friday, on the north side of the Montreal/Ogilvie/Coventry corridor to downtown from the 417/174 split. Traffic controllers will maximize the east-west "green time" at all traffic signals along the corridor during rush hour.
